When it comes to selling your home, there are several things you need to consider before putting it on the market.

First, make sure your home is clean and decluttered, because you don’t want a buyer to get distracted when they’re trying to visualize their things in your home. You have a better chance of selling if a buyer is focused on how great your home is, instead of your things.

Another important factor in selling your home is the way it smells. Obviously it will smell nice right after you clean it, but make sure you put effort into showings as well. Don’t cook bacon or fish that day, and on the flip side, don’t have too many air fresheners as the buyer might think you’re trying to mask something. A simple, basic, clean smell is best.

What To Clean Before Listing Your Home

Clean, organized basement and garage spaces will show you take pride in your home.

You also need to clean out your closets. Interested buyers are going to open your closets to see how big they are, so it’s best to have them organized.

Don’t forget to clean out your basement and garage. These spaces are commonly used to store things you’re not using at the moment or don’t need anymore, but a well-organized basement and garage will give the impression that you take pride in your home and pay attention to detail. A clean garage floor is also going to make a great statement during the winter especially.
